Free beginner English class for adults and seniors to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing for daily life.
Lawncrest Library is running a Beginner English class for adult and senior beginners, with sessions on Mondays from 5:15 to 6:45 PM and Saturdays from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. It's a drop-in program that runs through December 12, 2026, so you can pick the day that fits your schedule and keep coming back as long as you like.
The course is called English for Daily Life, and that's exactly what it focuses on. It's designed for adult and senior beginners, so it's a good place to start if you're learning English as an adult. The sessions work on building confidence through practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writingβthe four basics you need to get by in day-to-day life. Rather than just studying grammar in a vacuum, the focus is on the kind of English you actually use when you're out in the city.
Lawncrest Library is a branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, and these sessions are made possible through the support of Comcast NBCUniversal. Because it's a library program, it's free and open to library patrons. There's no registration required, which makes it easy to just show up when you can without having to sign up in advance.
Every week we pick π the 5 best π things to do in Philadelphia and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
