Burlesque revue with a punk twist inspired by Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', with live music from the indie-punk band Hot Seat.
The 1969 Revue Co. brings Bands to Make Her Dance to Velvet Whip Arts & Social Club on Thursday, October 22. It's a burlesque revue with a punk twist, built around the dark romance and decadence of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The whole night mixes classic gothic imagery with the grit, sexuality, and rebellious energy of punk, pairing live music with striptease and old-world decadence.
69Eveam hosts and performs, and she's also the founder of The 1969 Revue Co. She's a Philadelphia burlesque artist who brings punk attitude, sensuality, dark humor, and a love of the unexpected to the stage. The rest of the lineup features performers Dimestore Bobby, Victoria Reno, Honeytree EvilEye, and stage kitten Elena Pennsylvania. MCing the night are Ariel Versace, from RuPaul's Drag Race, and El Papi Chase, with Arrow & JV. Providing the live music is the indie-punk band Hot Seat.
Beyond the stage, there are costume contests and raffles, and the show notes encourage you to dress like your "hottest gothic nightmare." There's also an after-show hangout to keep the night going after the final act.
