A one-hour salsa class followed by social dancing at FDR Park's Gateway Plaza, part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
¡BAILAR en FDR! returns to Gateway Plaza at FDR Park on Friday, October 23, from 7 PM to 11 PM. It's part of a series hosted by Fairmount Park Conservancy and DJ Valentin Flores of Dance Philly, who brings the music to the plaza on select Fridays. The night follows a set format: a one-hour salsa lesson from 7 to 8 PM, taught by an experienced instructor and open to all levels, followed by social dancing until 11 PM. If you've never danced before, the class is your way in; if you already know your way around a dance floor, you can skip straight to the social half.
Taqueria Morales sets up at every event, so there's food on hand throughout the night. The whole thing is outdoors at the plaza, which sits at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue in South Philly. The series is part of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, which runs from September 15 to October 15 and brings salsa dancing, music, and cultural events to parks and rec sites across the city.
