A drag tribute show paying homage to the legendary Dolly Parton, presented by Franky Bradley's.
Backwoods Barbie: A Dolly Parton Tribute Show hits Franky Bradley's on Thursday, October 15, a drag tribute to Dolly Parton. The show is presented by Franky Bradley's and its expansion B.West, a restaurant and nightlife spot in the heart of the Gayborhood known for food, drink, drag, and burlesque. They've billed it as welcoming "Dumb Blondes, Jolenes and 9-to-5ers."
The lineup is a long one: Vinchelle Sutton, Fearce, Rita Brujeria, Tara, Ashleigh, Austin, Wet, Betty, and Pixie and Styx, with Bev and Little Piece hosting. That's ten performers on the bill, so it's more of a variety show than a single act.
If you haven't spent much time there, the venue has a bit of history to it. Franky Bradley's was opened by Frankie Bradley on September 15, 1933, less than two months before Prohibition ended. Born Frank Block in South Philadelphia in 1895, he took the stage name Frankie Bradley after a pro boxing match, earned $6,000 over a 65-fight career, and ran the family restaurant for more than 50 years. Over those decades, the place drew stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Dick Clark, Lauren Bacall, Lucille Ball, and Tony Randall. Half the building burnt down in 1960, and Bradley died in January 1976.
