Storytime with books, songs and dancing followed by free play with toys for children aged five and under and their caregivers.
Walnut Street West Library is hosting another Baby & Toddler Storytime & Free Play session on Tuesday, October 27, at 11:30 AM. It's part of the library's Storytimes series, which is their broader run of family programming for the city.
The session is for children aged five and under and their caregivers, so it's built for the youngest crowd. The format is a two-part deal: it starts with a storytime of books, songs, and dancing, and then it moves into a period of free play with toys. The books and songs come first, and the toys come after, so the kids get a bit of focused listening and movement before they're loose with the playthings.
If you're used to the way these things usually go, you'll recognize the pattern. The first half is the guided part—the reading, the singing, the dancing—and the second half is when the kids just get to be kids. It's a good way to get them around other little ones in the neighborhood without having to manage a whole afternoon of entertainment on your own.
