Lap time with stories, songs, rhymes and bounces for babies with caregivers, followed by a playgroup, led by Ms. Meghan.
Richmond Library is hosting Baby Storytime & Play Group on Thursday, October 22, starting at 10:30 AM. It's a lap time session for babies and their caregivers, with stories, songs, rhymes, and bounces, followed by a playgroup. Siblings are welcome too.
Ms. Meghan leads the session. It's part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's Family Programs, which run more than 28,000 programs for all ages each year. The storytimes are led by librarians who guide families through the stories, songs, rhymes, and bounces, with the playgroup coming after.
Richmond Library serves the Richmond and Port Richmond communities, and its history goes back to 1897. It started as a 'Travelling Library' of 300 books in a flour and feed store, run by Protestant ministers who rallied the neighborhood to set it up. From there, it moved to the second floor of the Mutual Hall Association. The cornerstone of the current branch was laid in 1908, thanks to a gift from Andrew Carnegie and a plot of land from Anne W. Penfield, who was then reckoned the wealthiest woman in America. The library opened on March 15, 1910, and was renovated in 1994 as part of the 'Changing Lives' campaign, which brought internet service to every branch.
