Free storytime with Miss Mary for children ages two and under and their caregivers, with stories, songs, rhymes, bounces and playtime.
Baby & Toddler Storytime is back at Parkway Central Library on Monday, October 26, at 10:30 AM. It's led by Miss Mary and built for children ages two and under and their caregivers, though siblings are welcome too. The session runs about half an hour.
Miss Mary keeps things moving with stories, songs, rhymes and bounces, and once the reading part wraps up, there's playtime for the kids to just be kids. The whole thing is designed to help little ones develop pre-literacy skills while caregivers bond and have some fun together. It's a low-pressure way to get your toddler around books and other kids, and since it's only thirty minutes, it fits into a morning without taking over the whole day.
One thing to keep in mind is that the location shifts with the weather. On cooler days, storytime moves to the auditorium on the ground floor; on warmer days, it's held outdoors in Shakespeare Park, just across the street from the library. If you're heading in, the library is at 1901 Vine Street, between 19th and 20th Streets on the Parkway, in the 19103 zip code. On a typical day, you'll find it in the Children's Department on the ground floor, Room 22.

It's free, and since it's a Monday morning, it's a good excuse to get out of the house with the little ones. Just remember to check the weather before you head over, so you know whether to look for Miss Mary inside the library or across the street in the park. 10:30 AM, Monday, October 26.
