Friday market of local artists, creatives and entrepreneurs with one-of-a-kind finds overlooking the Ben Franklin Bridge and the Delaware River.
The Artist and Artisans Market returns to Cherry Street Pier this year, running from Friday, March 3, through Friday, December 4. It's not a weekly thing—there are nine market days spread across those nine months, all on select Fridays from 4 PM to 9 PM. If you're planning to go, it's worth checking the full schedule beforehand so you don't show up on an off-week.
The market brings together local artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs, and the whole point is one-of-a-kind finds. Since it's a gathering of individual makers rather than a curated shop, what you'll find changes from one market to the next. It's the kind of place where you can actually talk to the people who made the things they're selling.
Location is a big part of the experience here. The market is held at The Market at Cherry Street Pier, which puts you right over the Delaware River with a view of the Ben Franklin Bridge. It's a good spot to spend a few hours on a Friday evening, especially if you're already in the Old City area.

And you don't have to leave as soon as the market closes. The pier has concessions for light bites and drinks, so you can hang out after the vendors pack up, or take a walk through the Gallery to see the latest exhibition. Between the market, the food, and the art, it's easy to make a whole evening of it. The market runs from 4 PM to 9 PM on those select Fridays.
