Informal, self-led art-making group at the Parkway Central Library where adults, young adults and seniors work on collage, drawing and painting at their own pace.
The Art Making Club meets at the Parkway Central Library on Tuesday, November 3, from 12 PM to 2 PM. It's a self-led, informal art-making group run out of the library's Art Department, and there's no set program. You work on collage, drawing, painting, and whatever else you're feeling, at your own pace.
That's the main thing to get: it's not a class. There's no instructor standing at the front giving a demo or a list of steps to follow. You just show up and make. If you've got a project you've been chipping away at, you can bring it in and keep going; if you're starting from scratch, that works too. You're in good company, either way.
Supplies are provided, so you don't need to lug a kit across town. There's a community collage station stocked with scissors, glue, and plenty of paper, and drawing and watercolor supplies are available on request. It's set up so you can just dive in without worrying about the gear.

The sessions are open to adults, young adults, and seniors alike, so it's a mixed crowd. You'll find people from all over the city working side by side, each on their own thing. It's a low-pressure way to spend a couple of hours creating something, whether you're a regular artist or just looking for a place to mess around with some paint and paper.
The club meets in the Art Department at the Parkway Central Library, 1901 Vine Street, between 19th and 20th Streets on the Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19103-1189. The session runs from 12 PM to 2 PM on Tuesday, November 3.
