Free weekly club at the Queen Memorial Library for young people to watch anime, discuss manga, learn to draw anime-style characters and make anime crafts.
Anime Club kicks off at Queen Memorial Library on Tuesday, October 27, and it's a weekly thing, not just a one-off. It runs every Tuesday at 3:30 PM, so if you miss the first one, there's another one the following week. It's a Free Library of Philadelphia program for young people who love anime and manga, open to young adults and school-age children.
The format is pretty straightforward: you watch anime with friends, talk about your favorite manga, and learn to draw anime-style characters. There's also time for anime crafts and picking up a bit of Japanese language and culture along the way. It's less of a formal class and more of a hangout for people who already spend their time with this stuff and want a place to do it with others.
One of the best parts is that the library encourages everyone to browse and borrow from its anime and manga collections, so you can take home what you're talking about. If you've been reading on your own and want to start sharing it, this is a good spot to find people who get the references.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Philadelphia and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's all at Queen Memorial Library, 1201 South 23rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146. It's free, and since it's a weekly thing, you can drop in whenever you're around. Tuesdays at 3:30 PM, starting October 27.
