Anime After School (Grades 6–12)

Anime After School is back at Walnut Street West Library on Tuesday, November 17, starting at 3:15 PM. It's one of the Free Library of Philadelphia's after-school programs for young adults in grades 6 to 12, and the whole thing is built around getting together after school for anime, conversation and hanging out. The format is simple: each month the session features a different series to binge and discuss, and this month's pick is Little Witch Academia.

The series they choose can range from popular favorites to titles you might have missed, and the group helps decide what to watch next by voting on the monthly series. So if you've got a show you've been wanting to get into, you'll have a say in what comes down the line. It's a low-pressure way to keep up with anime and meet other fans in the neighborhood.

If you're looking for more than just watching, the library runs a wider range of anime and manga programming for teens. There's Anime Club, which gets into drawing anime-style characters, manga discussion, anime crafts and Japanese language and culture, as well as Teen Tuesdays, Teen Thursdays and Holmesburg Anime Club. If you're in the 6th-12th grade range, you can move between them depending on whether you're in the mood to watch, draw or just talk.

Anime After School is at Walnut Street West Library, 201 South 40th Street (40th & Walnut Streets), Philadelphia, PA 19104-3542. It starts at 3:15 PM on Tuesday, November 17, and no registration is required.
