Greek wine dinner from the American Airlines Global Wine Dinner Series, with wines from Santorini, Crete and Rhodes paired with Greek dishes.
City Winery Philadelphia is hosting a Greek wine dinner on Thursday, October 22, as part of the American Airlines Global Wine Dinner Series. It's called It's All Greek: Wines of the Islands & Beyond, and the whole night is built around the wines and food of Greece.
The wine comes from Monemvasia Winery and Domaine Sigalas, and the menu is a multi-course affair put together by the restaurant's Executive Chef. You'll work your way through Greek dishes like kolokithokeftedes (zucchini fritters), dakos (Cretan barley rusks topped with tomato and feta), fasolada (traditional bean soup), and paidákia arnísia (grilled lamb chops). The wines are selected by the house Winemaker, and City Winery's own wine experts host the evening, talking through the region's flavors, history, and traditions as you go.
This is one installment of the American Airlines Global Wine Dinner Series, which City Winery Philadelphia presents each month. The series is set up as a chance for AAdvantage members and their guests to explore one of the world's great wine destinations without leaving the city. This particular night looks at one of the oldest wine cultures on earth, tasting through indigenous grape varieties and regional expressions from the volcanic vineyards of Santorini to the mainland and the islands of Crete and Rhodes.
