Artist talk and dinner with contemporary ink artist Zhen Guo, with reservation required.
Zhen Guo will be at FRIEDA on Tuesday, October 27, for an artist talk followed by dinner. It's part of her exhibition, which runs from October 9 through December 13, 2026, so if you can't make the talk, you've still got plenty of time to see the work on its own.
Guo is a pioneering force in American Asian contemporary ink art, and her career has spanned several continents. She was born in Rizhao, Shandong, and trained at the Fine Arts Department of Shandong Art School in 1976 and later at the China Academy of Art, where she eventually joined the faculty of the Chinese Painting Department. From there, her practice moved across the ocean: she studied at the San Francisco Art College in 1986 and took a visiting scholarship at York University College of Art in Canada. In 1988, she founded the Zhen Guo Art Studio in New York, a move that established her presence in the international art world.
The talk and dinner on the 27th are a chance to hear her speak about her work in person, and the dinner that follows keeps the conversation going. If you're interested in the show itself, it opened with a reception on October 9 and stays up through December 13. One detail worth knowing: 100% of the sale proceeds from any artwork sold during the exhibition go directly to the artist.
