Annual Remembrance Sunday service at the War Memorial in St Giles', with military units, uniformed organisations, faith leaders and a lament, followed by the parade.
Oxford City Remembrance Sunday returns to the War Memorial in St Giles' on Sunday 8 November 2026. It's the second Sunday in November, the day the city stops to remember those who gave everything to protect the country's freedom.
The service is hosted by the Lord Mayor in partnership with the Oxford City branch of the Royal British Legion. It commemorates the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women from the two World Wars and later conflicts. On the morning, military units, uniformed organisations, faith leaders from across the city, civic dignitaries and residents gather together. There are messages from Oxford's faith communities and a lament, The Flowers of the Forest, performed by Scott Weston. The service concludes with the blessing of the Bishop of Oxford.
