Talk by bestselling author Michael Lewis about his new book 'Blockers', with a post-show book signing.
Michael Lewis is coming to the Sheldonian Theatre on Wednesday 18 November, where he'll be talking about his new book, Blockers. If you've read his earlier work, you'll know the territory he covers: he's spent more than thirty years pulling back the curtain on how money and power actually work, from high finance and baseball to presidential campaigns and the rise and fall of crypto tycoon Sam Bankman-Fried, as well as the chaos of Donald Trump's first term. Liar's Poker and The Big Short are the ones most people recognise, and Blockers fits right into that same vein.
This one focuses on the current moment. It's a thriller about the unsung heroes who stood up to Elon Musk's DOGE and the wider forces of Trump's second term, and the evening draws on that. The talk runs for an hour and fifty minutes with a twenty-minute interval, and there's a book signing after, so you'll have plenty of time to get your copy signed if you're planning on bringing one along.
