One-off K-pop dance show by award-winning South Korean dancer and choreographer Lia Kim and her company of dancers from South Korea.
Lia Kim brings her K-pop dance show to the Sohmen Concert Hall on Saturday 6 February, a one-off performance that sees the award-winning South Korean dancer and choreographer taking the stage with a company of dancers from South Korea. It's a high-energy set built around razor-sharp choreography and iconic K-pop tracks, with Kim leading the company through the powerhouse moves she's known for.
The show is presented by the Schwarzman Centre and the Oxford Centre for Korean Studies as part of K-Flow: Riding the Korean Wave, a day-long celebration of Korean culture. The day is designed to let you dance like a K-pop star, discover where the Korean Wave came from and where it's heading, and explore life on both sides of the Korean peninsula through a film programme. Kim's performance is one part of that wider programme, so it's worth checking out the rest of the day if you're already heading into town.
K-Flow was programmed with Professor Jieun Kiaer, Hark-Joon Lee and Professor Kim Hyungsuk, who is billed as the 'Godfather of K-Pop', and it's supported by Samchully Co., Ltd. and the Korea Foundation. The whole day sits under the K-Flow banner, with the dance performance acting as one of its main features.
