Workshop to make a festive winter hedgerow wreath from foliage grown in the community gardens, with all materials provided.
Arkwright Meadows Community Gardens are running a winter hedgerow wreath making workshop on Saturday 28 November, from 1 pm to 3 pm. It's one of their popular winter sessions, and the whole point is to make your own decorative festive wreath from foliage grown in the gardens and nearby. When you arrive, you'll find leaves, twigs, herbs and willow laid out on the table for you to work with, so you're building it from what's actually growing around the site rather than buying a pre-made kit.
The workshop is held in the garden's polytunnel, which they say stays quite warm even in late November, and they describe the session as a lovely, gentle way to put a wreath together. You don't need any previous experience to join in: all the materials and resources are provided, and there are warm drinks and festive snacks on hand to keep you going while you work. You'll leave with your own finished wreath to take home and hang up for the season.
