Small-group festive willow weaving workshop led by Lucy at Oak Tree Farm, where participants make Christmas decorations among the alpacas.
Oak Tree Alpacas is hosting a willow weaving workshop on Sunday 29 November, where you'll spend the afternoon making Christmas stars. It's held at Oak Tree Farm, Park Avenue, Woodborough, NG14 6EB, and the session starts at 13:30. The whole thing takes place right next to the herds of alpacas that live on the farm, in a spot that looks out over a garden and the surrounding woodland, so you've got the animals and the trees as your backdrop while you work.
Lucy leads the session, and she doesn't just hand you the materials and leave you to it. She talks the group through the different types of willow and the weaving process itself, so you'll get a proper sense of how it all comes together. Everyone leaves with at least two or three Christmas decorations to display indoors or outdoors, rather than just one. A reasonable level of hand strength is needed to work the willow, but there's help and guidance on hand throughout the afternoon, so you're not left struggling if you hit a snag.
