Piano recital by Vadym Kholodenko of works by Liszt and Beethoven within the Royal Concert Hall's Sunday Piano Series.
Vadym Kholodenko plays the Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 25 October, part of the Sunday Piano Series. It's a morning recital, starting at 11:00, and it's just him and the piano.
The programme brings together two heavyweights of the piano repertoire. He opens with Franz Liszt's 3 Études de concert, S.144, a set of three concert études that sit somewhere between a study and a full-blown showpiece. After that, he moves on to Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata no. 29 'Hammerklavier', Op. 106. The Hammerklavier is one of Beethoven's longest and most demanding sonatas, known for its scale and the technical grip it takes to get through it.
Kholodenko is a Gold Medallist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and he's played on some of the world's biggest stages in London, Paris, Vienna and New York. This recital is part of the Royal Concert Hall's Sunday Piano Series, a cycle of morning recitals held at the city's concert hall. It's a good way to spend a Sunday morning if you fancy a bit of classical piano before the rest of the day kicks in.
