Free two-hour creative writing workshop led by Nottingham Nature Poet Laureate Cara Thompson to create myths and legends of the River Trent for Halloween.
Trick or Trent is a Halloween river writing workshop at the Art Deco Bandstand on Thursday 22 October, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. It's the second Victoria Embankment poetry workshop led by Nottingham Nature Poet Laureate Cara Thompson, and it's free to attend.
The session is built around the River Trent. You'll draw on your surroundings, your senses and the existing folklore of the river to create your own myths and legends, just in time for the spooky season. It's a two-hour workshop, so there's plenty of time to get stuck in rather than just scratching the surface. The organisers bring everything you need, though you're welcome to bring your own materials if you have a preferred pen or notebook.

It's run by Nottingham City Council's Parks and Open Spaces team, and since it's outdoors, the advice is to dress for all weathers—October in Nottingham can be a bit of a lottery, so a warm coat and a waterproof are a safe bet. The workshop runs from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and the group meets at 12:55pm at the Memorial Garden Bandstand, which is where you'll find the Art Deco Bandstand on Victoria Embankment, Nottingham NG2 2JY. It's free to join.
