Over-14s gig by Reverend and the Makers, the live superband project of Sheffield musician Jon McClure, at Rock City.
Reverend and the Makers play Rock City on Thursday 26 November, their only Nottingham date that autumn. It's a headline show with the band as the sole bill, so the whole night is theirs.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, the project is the work of Sheffield musician Jon McClure. He spent years building an underground following, collaborating with the likes of Arthur Brown, John Cooper Clarke, Andy Nicholson of Arctic Monkeys, Tom Rawley of Milburn and Alex Turner. He put together 'The Makers' as a live superband of relatively unknown musicians, signed to Wall of Sound records in October 2006. Their debut single, 'Heavyweight Champion of the World', got Radio 1 airplay and hit the UK Top 10, followed by the album State Of Things in September of that same year.
It's a long-running project, and this is a full-band show rather than a solo turn. The set will be built around the songs that made the name in the first place, with the Makers providing the live backing. It's a night for anyone who followed the early records or just wants to hear them played out in full.

Doors open at 18:30, and the show is expected to finish around 22:00, so it's a mid-week one that won't keep you out too late. Tickets are £25 face value, which comes to £29.63 with booking and venue restoration fees. One thing to keep in mind: the show is over-14s only, so it's not one for the younger ones.
