Women-only DIY workshop on fitting loft and floor insulation, part of the East Midlands Combined County Authority's Festival of Retrofit.
Practical Skills for Women: Insulate with Confidence runs at the NEP Climate Hub on Wednesday 4 November, from 10am to 1pm. It's a women-only DIY workshop on home insulation, and it's free to attend.
The session is run by the male contracting team at the NEP Climate Hub, part of the East Midlands Combined County Authority's Festival of Retrofit, which runs across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire from 26 October to 9 November. The festival is a collaboration with the EH-UP Energy Efficient Homes - Upgrade Programme, and this particular workshop is one of many running throughout the period.
It comes at a time when more women are taking on their own home improvement and retrofit projects, and the women-only format is designed to create a supportive space to build practical skills and confidence alongside other homeowners. You'll get hands-on experience fitting insulation in lofts and suspended floors, learn how to choose the right materials, and pick up tips on safe installation, storage and ventilation to avoid the kind of costly mistakes that can crop up when you're figuring it out as you go.

The wider festival runs across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire with workshops, drop-in sessions, expert talks and open days, and its second week coincides with Green Careers Week. The workshop itself is at the NEP Climate Hub, 32 Turney Street, The Meadows, Nottingham, NG2 2LG, on Wednesday 4 November from 10am to 1pm. It's free.
