Gig by the reformed Nottingham indie band Panchiko, with support from Alison's Halo, at Rock City.
Panchiko play Rock City on Thursday 22 October, with Alison's Halo opening. It's a Nottingham band playing a Nottingham room, and the whole story behind them is one of the strangest in recent indie history.
They started in the late nineties as a group of Nottingham teenagers who put out an EP in 2000 and then split up. For years, that was the end of it. Then in 2016, a copy of one of their CDs turned up in a Sherwood Oxfam shop. The person who bought it posted online asking for more information, and the thread went viral on 4Chan, with people wondering if it was a secret Radiohead release. It took the internet four years to track down the original band members, and the public demand eventually brought them back twenty years after they'd first called it a day. The reformed group has since grown a following of millions of listeners on Spotify.
So if you've come across them through the internet rather than the early days, this is a chance to see them in the city where they started. They'll be sharing the bill with Alison's Halo, who take the support slot before Panchiko take over the main part of the night.
