Christmas concert by the Quercus Woodwind Quintet and The Good Shepherd Primary Catholic Academy Choir at Maggie's Nottingham, with mulled wine and mince pies at the interval.
Maggie's Nottingham is putting on its Christmas Concert on Thursday 10 December at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Woodthorpe. It's a night they put together to share the joy of the holiday season while raising money for people affected by cancer, so it's as much about the cause as it is about the music.
The evening brings together two very different sounds on one stage. The Quercus Woodwind Quintet provides the instrumental side of things, and they're paired with the voices of The Good Shepherd Primary Catholic Academy Choir. Having a children's choir alongside a woodwind quintet gives the whole thing a particular Christmas feel, and the two groups share the bill rather than taking turns.
There's a proper interval in the middle, too, where they serve mulled wine and mince pies. It's a good chance to stretch your legs and have a chat before the second half gets going. If you're going with a group, it's a nice bit of the evening to settle in and enjoy the festive side of things.
