Hands-on workshop by Hannah Glossop of The Embroiderers' Guild UK on embroidery embellishment and surface design.
Hannah Glossop is leading an embroidery workshop at Hobbycraft on Saturday 20 March, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. It's called Exploring Embroidery Embellishment, and it's part of The Embroiderers' Guild UK's in-person events collection.
The session is built around creative approaches to surface design, and the Guild's workshop format is designed to get you stuck in with hands-on exploration of embroidery embellishment. It's not just about the stitching itself, though; there's a focus on upcycling textiles, so you'll be looking at how to take existing fabric and build something new on top of it. If you've got a plain garment or a piece of linen that's seen better days, this is exactly the kind of thing you'd bring along to work on.
Glossop is the one guiding the morning, and the session runs for two and a half hours, so there's plenty of time to actually make something rather than just watching a demonstration. The Embroiderers' Guild UK is the organiser behind it, and this is one of their in-person events, which means you'll be working alongside other people in the room rather than following a tutorial from your sofa.
