How to build the perfect winter capsule wardrobe

John Lewis Nottingham is running a winter capsule wardrobe masterclass on Saturday 21 November, starting at 11:00 am. It's held in The Style Studio on Floor 1, at 109 Milton Street, NG1 3QA. The store's own personal styling team lead the session, walking you through their latest fashion finds and the key trends and must-have essentials that make up a winter wardrobe — from luxurious chunky knits to the layering pieces that do the heavy lifting when it gets cold.

The main thing they show is how to style hero pieces in several versatile ways, so you can get more out of a smaller number of clothes. The stylists also share their own favourites from the latest collections, which gives you a better sense of what's actually worth picking up. It's a practical look at how to build a wardrobe that works for the season without needing a huge amount of new stuff.

The session is part of the John Lewis Christmas shop, which opened with 93 days to go. This year's shop leans into a surge in nostalgic, analogue shopping among Millennial and Gen Z customers — vinyl record sales are up 98%, and the retro Native Union Pop Phone has spiked 186%. Along with the styling, the shop brings back Santa's tea party, the Traitors game, and new yeti characters that double as collectable handbag charms.

The masterclass is exclusive to My John Lewis members, who can sign up to attend and book additional tickets for friends and family. It costs £10 per person, which is redeemable against any John Lewis purchase, so it's effectively free if you're planning on picking something up anyway.
