Touring production of Cole Porter's musical High Society, with Helen George, Freddie Fox and Nigel Lindsay, at the Theatre Royal.
High Society opens at the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 3 November, running through to Saturday 7 November. It's a Cole Porter musical that arrives in Nottingham direct from a sell-out West End season, as part of a wider tour across the UK and Ireland. If you're familiar with the Golden Age of musical theatre, it sits in the same tradition as Anything Goes and Kiss Me, Kate.
The story follows Tracy Lord, a glamorous socialite whose wedding plans descend into chaos when old and new flames turn up at her waterfront estate, all while a tabloid reporter hunts for scandal. The score draws from the best of Porter's songbook, with Just One Of Those Things, Let's Misbehave, I Love Paris, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, Well Did You Evah? and True Love all making an appearance. The Times called it 'five-star pure theatrical escapism', and the Financial Times described it as 'studded with diamond performances'.
Helen George takes the lead as Tracy Lord, with Freddie Fox, Nigel Lindsay, Julian Ovenden and Malcolm Sinclair among a 28-strong cast. Rachel Kavanaugh directs, and Anthony Van Laast handles the choreography.
