Free bike safety and maintenance drop-in session for NUH staff at City Hospital, with a basic bike check and minor repairs.
Dr Bike is back at City Hospital on Tuesday 2 February, from 9 am to 1 pm. It's a free bike safety and maintenance drop-in session, run by the Staff Wellbeing Team to help staff keep cycling to work. The actual work is carried out by C&L Mobile Bicycle Repairs, who set up outside the Cityside Restaurant on Hucknall Road.
A slot gets you a basic bike check and sorts out the minor things that usually build up over a few months of riding: tightening brakes, tuning gears, or fixing a puncture. It's the kind of thing that's easy to put off until it becomes a proper problem, so it's a handy way to get it sorted without having to book a workshop or spend your morning messing about with a spanner.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind before you head over. The service is for NUH staff only, and you'll need to show your staff ID when you drop your bike off. If your bike has more complex problems that a quick check can't fix, or if you've got a family member's bike that needs looking at, the team can arrange a private home visit instead. And if you're staff at the University of Nottingham, there's a similar service you can access through UoN Sustainability.

So, if you're cycling into the hospital and your gears are skipping or your brakes feel a bit soft, you can drop your bike off at the Cityside Restaurant on Tuesday 2 February between 9 am and 1 pm. It's free, provided you've got your ID on you.
