Scottish alt-rock band Del Amitri play the Royal Concert Hall on their 'Past To Present' UK Tour 2026, with support from Former Champ.
Del Amitri play the Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday 18 November, part of their Past To Present UK Tour 2026. They're supported by Former Champ.
If you've never heard the story, the band started in Glasgow around 1979-80 when schoolmates Justin Currie, James Scobbie and Donald Bentley formed the group in reaction against the school 'rockers'. They chose the name Del Amitri because it meant nothing but sounded like a person's name, and they kept the band a secret from the rest of the school. Their first recorded track, 'What She Calls It', came out as the B-side of a flexi-disc given away with the Stand and Deliver fanzine. Bentley and Scobbie left for university in 1982, and the new line-up — with Currie and Iain Harvie as the only members to remain throughout the band's history — became its main songwriting team.
Their easy blend of pop and country-rock made them a worldwide road and radio staple from the mid-80s, with hits like 'Roll to Me' and 'Nothing Ever Happens' and around six million albums sold. The Past To Present tour marks four decades of songs, stories and live shows, so the set will draw from a long run of material rather than just the recent stuff.
