London quintet Breed 77, a fusion of rock and flamenco originally from Gibraltar, play Rock City in Nottingham with support from King Kraken.
Breed 77 play Rock City (Beta) on Thursday 5 November, with King Kraken opening the night. It's a London-based quintet originally from Gibraltar, and they play a fusion of rock and flamenco that they've built a following around through their live shows. The line-up is Paul Isola on vocals and percussion, Danny Felice and Pedro Caparros on guitars, Stuart Cavilla on five-string bass, and Adam Lewis on drums.
They've released three studio albums — Breed 77, Cultura, and In My Blood (En Mi Sangre) — alongside a best-of collection, Un Encuentro, which gathers the Spanish-language versions of their songs. The Spanish side of things is a good place to start if you're not familiar with them; that flamenco influence isn't just a detail, it's a core part of what they do. Between the two guitars and the percussion, there's a lot of rhythmic ground to cover, and the five-string bass gives them a bit more room to move than a standard four.
They're used to playing Nottingham's music venues, and this one is in the Beta room, so it's a smaller, closer setting than the main stage. King Kraken will be on first, so you'll get two bands for the price of one. Doors open at 18:30, and the night is expected to wrap up around 22:00.
