Live show by Brandon Flowers, frontman of The Killers, at Rock City on his UK tour for his solo album 'Thrasher'.
Brandon Flowers is at Rock City on Sunday 18 October, one date on his UK tour. He's the frontman of The Killers, but this is a solo outing, and the set is built around his first solo album, Thrasher.
That record was cut in Nashville at the legendary Historic RCA Studio A, with producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado at the helm. It draws on a good deal of Music City's finest players, among them David Rawlings, pedal steel player Bruce Bouton and harmonica legend Charlie McCoy. At its heart, the album is rooted in Flowers' childhood in the small Utah town of Nephi, and it's described as the ideal home for his most personal and vulnerable songwriting to date.
It's a different side to the voice you know from The Killers. Where the band's songs often lean into the big, open-road sound, Thrasher looks back to where he started, and the tour is about hearing that material live. The Nashville session players — the pedal steel and the harmonica — are a good indication of the territory he's working in here, and the set will be built around those songs.
