Ben Folds plays his interactive Paper Airplane Request Tour, with the second half of the show built around songs requested by the audience via paper airplanes, supported by Lindsey Kraft.
Ben Folds brings his Paper Airplane Request Tour to the Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 22 November, with Lindsey Kraft supporting. It's a two-half show, and the second half is where the title comes in: the stage becomes a landing strip for the crowd's song requests. You write your favourite Folds track on a piece of paper, fold it into a paper aeroplane, and send it gliding towards the stage. Folds then performs songs chosen directly from the airborne suggestions. You can bring your own pre-made planes or make new ones using paper and pens available at the merchandise table.
The first half is a more conventional set, built around his trademark wit, musicianship and storytelling. The two halves together mean you get both a curated show and a set shaped by the room. Folds is an Emmy-nominated singer-songwriter whose genre-bending output includes the pop albums of Ben Folds Five, numerous solo records, a holiday album and many collaborations. He's toured as a pop artist while playing with some of the world's greatest symphony orchestras for more than two decades, and spent eight years as the first Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.
