Bellowhead play their 20th anniversary tour of their debut album 'Burlesque', with support from Seckou Keita.
Bellowhead are playing the Royal Concert Hall on Friday 20 November, as part of their Burlesque 20th anniversary tour. The night is a celebration of their debut album, Burlesque, and they'll be joined by Seckou Keita on support.
If you've never come across them, Bellowhead are an eleven-piece folk outfit that built their reputation on the idea that big is beautiful, blending traditional English folk music with a modern big-band sound. Burlesque was their full-length debut, and it held songs like 'London Town', 'Frog's Legs', 'Dragon's Teeth' and 'Rigs of The Time'. From there they went on to record another four studio albums, sell more than a quarter of a million copies, collect two silver discs and win eight BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, before calling it a day in 2016.
A record-breaking online stream during the pandemic prompted a reunion, and the band returned to the stage with a sold-out tour in 2022 and another in 2024 as they celebrated their own 20th anniversary. This tour marks the anniversary of the debut album itself, so the set will be built around Burlesque.
