Yin and sound relaxation workshop led by Fionah Harris, exploring the transition from late autumn into winter.
Fionah Harris is running a yin and sound workshop at The Old School Business Centre in Daybrook on Saturday 31 October, from 10:00 to 12:00. It's a two-hour morning session, and the whole thing is built around the shift from late autumn into winter.
The session is split into two distinct halves. The first part is an extended yin practice, where you hold poses for longer than usual to work into a deeper release. Once that's done, the second half is a sound bath, where you lie back and let the sound carry you into a state of deep rest. Harris describes the morning as a way to find release and then settle into stillness, framed as a practice that honours a season of transition and transformation.
If you're not familiar with the two, yin is a slower, more passive form of yoga that focuses on the connective tissues rather than the muscles, and sound baths use singing bowls or other instruments to create an immersive sonic environment. Putting them together means you spend the first hour opening up and the second hour letting go, so it's less of a workout and more of a slow-down.
