Talk by Adrian O'Dell on the trades and industries of 19th- and 20th-century Norwich.
The Norwich Society is back at The Forum on Thursday 3 December, with Adrian O'Dell taking the lead for the morning. He'll be speaking on Norwich at Work: Trades and industries in the 19th-20th centuries, a talk that looks at the city's working life across two centuries.
If you've ever wondered what actually kept the city running back then, this is where you'll find the answers. O'Dell is going to run through the trades and industries that defined Norwich through the 1800s and 1900s, so it's a look at the city from the inside out—the workshops, the factories, and the people who worked in them. It's the kind of thing that puts the streets and buildings we walk past every day into a bit more context.
The talk runs from 10.30am to 11.30am, so it's a morning thing rather than an evening one. It's an hour's session, and it's held at The Forum, right in the city centre. If you're around on a Thursday morning and fancy a bit of local history, it's an easy one to slot in.
