Dave Rowntree, drummer of Blur, shares unheard stories and candid photos from his book 'No One You Know' about the band's history.
Dave Rowntree is at Norwich Arts Centre on Wednesday 25 November, bringing his new book No One You Know to the stage. It's a seated evening, so you'll be watching from a chair rather than standing in the crowd.
Rowntree is the drummer for Blur, and the show draws from his bestselling book No One You Know. He pairs unheard stories with candid photographs to trace the band's formative years: the early friendships in Colchester, the world tours, and the famous head-to-head with Oasis. It's a look at the moments that shaped one of the defining bands of 1990s Britpop, told by one of the people who was actually there.
If you've followed Blur since the early days, you'll recognise the landmarks — the Colchester roots, the rise to fame, and the battle for the charts with Oasis — but Rowntree fills in the gaps with stories and photos that didn't make it into the usual histories. It's less about the hits and more about the people and the places behind them.
