Hands-on creative sessions for young children inspired by the objects on display at Discovery Museum.
Tiny Sparks! is running at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle, with sessions going on from Friday 2 October right through to Friday 23 October. It's a series of hands-on creative sessions for young children, and the whole thing is built around the objects on display in the museum.
The idea is straightforward: the kids look at the things in the galleries and then get to make something inspired by them. It's a way of getting them to actually engage with the collections rather than just walking past, and because it's hands-on, they're doing the creating themselves. It's designed for the younger ones, so it's more about the process of making than any particular finished product.
Because it runs for three weeks, you've got plenty of time to fit it in. It's not a one-off date, so if your schedule is tight, you can pick a day that works for you. The sessions are held at the Discovery Museum, which is on Blandford Square in the city centre, NE1 4JA.

If you've got little ones and you're looking for something to do with them over the next few weeks, this is a good shout. It's a creative way to spend a morning or afternoon, and it gives them a reason to look a bit closer at what's on the walls. The sessions run from Friday 2 October until Friday 23 October at the Discovery Museum, Blandford Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4JA.
