The Small Fakers, the UK's only tribute to the Small Faces, bring their live show to The Cluny, performing hits like 'All Or Nothing' and 'Itchycoo Park'.
The Small Fakers play The Cluny on Thursday 19 November, their tribute to the mod legends Small Faces. They've been at it since 2007 and bill themselves as the UK's only tribute to the band, so if you've got a soft spot for that particular corner of the sixties, this is the one to keep on your radar.
The set leans on the hits that made the band famous — 'All Or Nothing', 'Itchycoo Park' and 'Lazy Sunday' are the big ones — but they mix them in with B-sides and fan favourites from the Small Faces' back catalogue, so it's not just a run of the singles. There's a bit of a nod to the era in how they play, too: back in the day, most acts played only about 25 minutes per gig, so they improvise their setlist while following the vibe of the original band's run, working through the best tracks from each LP as they were released and finishing with highlights from Ogdens Nut Gone Flake.
They've picked up some high praise from people who knew the original band. Kenney Jones called them 'absolutely spot on', and Stan Lane, brother of Ronnie Lane, put it this way: 'For those of you who never got to see the Small Faces live, this is as close as you're gonna get'.
