A hands-on workshop to learn the basics of glass cutting, copperfoiling and soldering to create a stained glass piece, run by artist Rita Griskonyte.
Rita Griskonyte is running a stained glass workshop at St James' United Reformed Church on Saturday 17 October, a full day dedicated to making a Halloween pumpkin. It's a hands-on introduction to traditional stained glass using the copperfoil technique, also known as the Tiffany method, and it's aimed at adults aged 18 and over. No prior experience is needed, so it works as a starting point if you've never touched glass before.
Over the course of the day, Griskonyte walks you through the three main stages of the process: cutting the glass, copperfoiling the edges, and soldering the pieces together. You'll be working your way through each step until you've put together your own stained glass pumpkin to take home. All the materials are provided, so you don't need to bring anything with you other than a willingness to get stuck in.
