Halloween special effects make-up class for 7-12 year olds at Laing Art Gallery.
Laing Art Gallery is hosting a spooky special effects make-up class for 7 to 12 year olds on Friday 30 October, just a few days before Halloween. It's a hands-on session run by Over the Winks, an SFX make-up artist and teacher who'll be leading the group through the tricks of the trade.
If you've got a kid in that age bracket who's into the more gruesome side of Halloween, this is exactly the kind of thing they'll get a kick out of. Instead of just sticking on a store-bought mask, they'll spend the session learning how to build a look from scratch. The whole thing is geared towards the 7-12 crowd, so it's a good spot for them to mess about with make-up and come away with something they can actually use on the night.
It's held at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne, so it's right in the city centre. The class runs on Friday 30 October, which puts it perfectly in the run-up to Halloween—close enough to be relevant, but with a few days to spare before the actual big night. It's a one-off session, so if you're planning to bring them along, you'll want to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Places start from £30, and the session is led by Over the Winks, who works as both an SFX make-up artist and a teacher, so they're used to showing people how to do this properly rather than just doing it themselves. It's a great way for a child to spend a Friday afternoon learning a new skill and getting their Halloween look sorted in one go.
