Themed outdoor ice skating session to country music hits like Luke Combs and Dolly Parton at the Life Science Centre.
Skatin' to Nashville is coming to the Life Science Centre's outdoor ice rink at Times Square on Friday 13 November, starting at 5:00pm. It's a themed session, so the soundtrack swaps the usual festive tunes for country hits like Luke Combs and Dolly Parton. If you're into country, it's a good excuse to get on the ice early in the season.
The rink at Times Square is a proper part of Newcastle's festive calendar, made of real ice and open to skaters of all ages and abilities. It's a new addition to Life this year, and for many around the Toon, its return is the first real sign that the Christmas season has kicked off. Sessions last about an hour, with around 45 minutes on the ice and 15 minutes for fitting skates. The rink runs throughout the Christmas season with a programme of themed sessions, including a relaxed Sunday morning skate with no music, lights or crowds for when you want something a bit quieter.
Skates are provided, so you don't need to bring your own. If you're not entirely steady on your feet, skating aids can be hired on the day for £6.00. The session is at 5:00pm on Friday 13 November, and the rink is at Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4EP.
