Pay-as-you-feel showcase of emerging live music talent from across the North, part of the Mercury Prize Fringe, promoted with Notion Live.
EMI North is taking over The Grove on Tuesday 20 October, with walt disco leading the bill and special guest spots from Lucky Iris and Mace The Great. It's a showcase of emerging live music from across the North, and it's promoted by Notion Live, an independent Newcastle promoter whose work covers concert promotion, multi-venue festivals, venue programming and consultancy.
The night is part of the Mercury Prize Fringe, a week-long celebration of music, creativity and community that runs alongside the Mercury Prize. It's the Fringe's second year back in Newcastle, and it's a big one: more than 30 events across the city leading up to the Awards Night at Utilita Arena on 22 October. The whole programme is delivered by Generator, the North's leading music development organisation, with support from Newcastle City Council. It mixes live showcases like this one with lyric and album-producing masterclasses with music legends, workshops, listening parties and in-conversations.
EMI North itself brings together emerging talent from across the North of the UK, so the bill draws from beyond the city. The night is promoted by Notion Live, the Newcastle-based independent promoter whose work spans concert promotion, multi-venue festivals, venue programming and consultancy. The showcase is one of the many Fringe gigs taking place across the city before the main awards ceremony on the 22nd.

One of the easiest things to wrap your head around is the price: every Fringe gig is Pay As You Feel, with every penny contributed going back to the local venues. That means you can give what you can, and it stays in the city's music scene. The showcase starts at 19:00 at The Grove, with walt disco, Lucky Iris and Mace The Great on the bill.
