Concert by the Detroit-born hip-hop producer, rapper and performer Black Milk at The Cluny.
Black Milk plays The Cluny on Tuesday 13 October, a Detroit-born producer, rapper and performer who's spent more than fifteen years moving from one of hip-hop's rising stars into a genre-bending virtuoso. He's released nine solo rap albums, alongside a string of EPs and instrumental projects, and his work reaches well beyond a single sound — it pulls from funk, jazz, hip hop, soul and psychedelic rock.
That range shows in who he's worked with. He's collaborated with Jack White, Mick Jenkins and Slum Village, and he produced Danny Brown's Really Doe, which brought together Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt and Ab-Soul on one track. It's that mix of hip hop and other territories that defines him: he's as comfortable in a rap pocket as he is leaning into jazz or psychedelic rock, and he's kept both sides of that coin going across his recording career.
