Themed skating session where skaters glide to ABBA greatest hits at the Life Science Centre outdoor ice rink.
ABBA Cold: Greatest Hits On Ice is coming to the Life Science Centre on Thursday 19 November, with sessions running at various times throughout the day. It's a themed skating session where you glide to ABBA's greatest hits, and it's a new addition to the programme this year. You'll hear tracks like 'Waterloo' and 'Mamma Mia' on the speakers while you're on the ice.
The session is part of the Life Science Centre's open-air ice rink season, which has become a bit of a fixture in Newcastle's festive calendar. The rink is made of real ice and sits in Times Square, just outside the centre. It reopens on Saturday 7 November and runs through the Christmas period, so this is one of the first themed nights of the season. It sits alongside other themed sessions like 'Skatin' to Nashville', 'The Art of Skating', 'Pyjama Skate' and 'Toon Tunes on Ice'.
Each session lasts around an hour, with about 45 minutes of that spent on the ice. Skate hire is included in your ticket, so you don't need to bring your own. If you're not entirely steady on your feet, skating aids can be hired on the day for £6. The wider festive programme also includes a Santa Experience for children aged 3 to 10, and the venue can be hired as a Christmas party space.
