A Certain Ratio celebrate the 45th anniversary of 'Sextet' and the 40th anniversary of 'Force' with two live sets, marking the 45th anniversary of their 1982 album 'Sextet' and the 40th anniversary of their 1986 follow-up 'Force', both recorded in Stockport.
A Certain Ratio play The Cluny on Tuesday 13 October, with the night built around two of their old albums, Sextet and Force. They're playing both in full, split across two sets with an interval in between, and there's no support act on the bill.
The date marks two anniversaries at once. Sextet came out in 1982, so this is its 45th; Force followed in 1986, making this its 40th. Both were recorded in Stockport: Sextet at Revolution Studios in Cheadle Hulme and Force at Yellow 2. Sextet is the band's most critically acclaimed record and the first they released under the name ACR, and it gave us 'Lucinda' and the live favourite 'Knife Slits Water'. Force was one of their more commercial albums, produced by the band alongside the late Stuart (Jammer) James, and it was their last on Factory Records, leaving behind 'Mickey Way' and 'Si Firmo O Grido'.
