Concert by the New York indie rock and post-punk band YHWH Nailgun, supported by Samba Jean-Baptiste.
YHWH Nailgun play Third Man Records on Tuesday, October 20, with Samba Jean-Baptiste joining them. They're touring their new album, Magazine, which came out on limited one-sided black vinyl with artwork by band member Jack Tobias. The record is ten tracks running across eleven minutes, and it pushes their sound into skeletal, immediate territory, with vocalist Zack Borzone delivering his lines with a clarity that wasn't as present on their earlier work.
If you're coming to them from their debut full-length, 45 Pounds (2025), you'll recognize the feral intensity they've carried since the start. The band formed in 2020 as a raw collision between Borzone and drummer Sam Pickard, and later grew into a four-piece with guitarist and producer Saguiv Rosenstock and synth player Jack Tobias. Before 45 Pounds, they put out two EPs that set the stage for the full-length.
Their sound pulls from a wide spread of territories—indie rock and experimental, hardcore punk, post-punk, lo-fi, noise rock, and no wave. They've played a free show in a disused London Underground exit by Marble Arch, which NTS Radio filmed. The New York-based group is out here on a North American tour, and this is their Nashville stop.
