Rock show by Year of October with support from Slow Shiv and The Terrible Horribles at The Basement.
Year of October play The Basement on Saturday, October 17, with Slow Shiv and The Terrible Horribles opening. It's a local bill for a local band: Year of October is based right here in Nashville.
They've been around since 2010, when members Phlecia and Josh started the project while they were attending the University of Kentucky. Back then, they were an acoustic singer-songwriter group, and they stayed that way for a while before expanding into a full band. Their first album, Stories, came out in early 2012, and the sound they've built since then pulls from a few different directions. They cite The Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, and Norah Jones as influences, and you can hear those threads running through it: the grit of the Keys, the heavy rock of Zeppelin, and the softer, melodic side of Jones. It's a rock set that doesn't stick to one lane.
