Concert by Yaelokre, a folk musician and storybook illustrator from Manila, with supporting acts Ben Caplan and Keath Osk.
Yaelokre plays Exit/In on Thursday, November 12, with Ben Caplan and Keath Ósk joining them on stage. The show starts at 7 PM at 2208 Elliston Place, in the heart of Nashville.
If you haven't come across them yet, Yaelokre is a minstrel and storybook illustrator who works in the folk genre. Their music is part of a larger project they've been building around a world they call 'Meadowlark', and they draw a lot of their inspiration from plays and fairytales. It's the kind of thing that feels like it belongs in a storybook as much as on a stage, and that's a good way to think about the whole thing—the songs are just one part of a bigger picture they're painting.
They hail from Manila, Philippines, and the Nashville date is already sold out, so if you're looking for tickets, you'll be hunting for them on the secondary market. Ben Caplan and Keath Ósk are on the bill too, so it's a full evening of folk rather than a solo set. Between the three of them, there's plenty of room for the kind of acoustic, storytelling-driven music that fits the Meadowlark world.
