Doom metal band Windhand performs live at The Truth in Nashville, with support from Acid Bath and Jeff the Brotherhood.
Windhand play The Truth on Friday, December 4, with Acid Bath and JEFF the brotherhood opening. It's a full bill of heavy music, and the headliners are a doom metal band from Richmond, Virginia, who have been at it since 2009. They started with a two-track demo in 2010 and followed it with their self-titled debut in 2012, which drew comparisons to Electric Wizard, The Devil's Blood, and Black Sabbath and landed them a deal with Relapse Records.
Since then, they've put out a steady stream of records. In 2013, they teamed up with fellow Richmond band Cough on the split Reflection of the Negative, and later that year released Soma, which Rolling Stone named one of the three best metal releases of 2013. In 2015 came Grief's Infernal Flower, produced by Jack Endino, who worked with Nirvana, High on Fire, and Soundgarden. The band is fronted by Dorthia Cottrell, with Garrett Morris on guitar.
They've played some of the bigger festivals on the circuit, including Roadburn, SXSW, Scion Rock Fest, Day of the Shred, and Maryland Deathfest. This Nashville date puts them on the same bill as Acid Bath and JEFF the brotherhood, so there's more than one band to see before the headliner takes the stage.
