The Jayhawks perform their Sanctuary Park tour with special guest Mary Gauthier at the CMA Theater.
The Jayhawks are playing The CMA Theater on Friday, November 13, with Mary Gauthier opening. The Jayhawks came out of Minneapolis in the post-punk era of the Replacements, Hüsker Dü and Soul Asylum, and helped pioneer the Americana movement by blending country, folk, soul, Britpop and rock & roll. In the tradition of the Band and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, they've toured with and served as backup band for Ray Davies, Roger McGuinn and Country Music Hall of Fame member Johnny Cash.
Today's lineup—Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg and Tim O'Reagan—has more than a dozen studio albums and three live albums behind them. They teamed with producer Bob Ezrin, who's worked with Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel and Lou Reed, for Sanctuary Park, due late summer 2026. This show is part of the tour celebrating 40 years of the band.
Mary Gauthier opens the night. A Louisiana troubadour, she started out as an orphan, addict and chef before becoming a sober singer-songwriter; NPR Music describes her as a heavyweight of unflinching introspection and Southern Gothic storytelling. Between her and The Jayhawks, it's a double bill of songwriters from different corners of the country.
